The well-established modern practice of homeopathy is the brainchild of 19th-century physician Dr. Samuel Hahnemann. The principle that “like cures like” serves as the foundation of homeopathic care.
This guiding philosophy of homeopathic care is often referred to as the Law of Similars, a well-studied phenomenon dating back to Ancient Greece that prescribes unique medicinal formulations based on the patient’s inborn traits and conditions. In fact, Hippocrates — the namesake of the famous Hippocratic Oath to “do no harm” that doctors must swear to abide by before becoming licensed – coined the original version of the phrase “like cures like” as it relates to the practice of medicine.
Holistic care –which encompasses the spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical aspects of the individual — constitutes the secondary guiding principle of homeopathy. Whereas conventional medicine generally focuses on patchwork treatment of specific conditions and their related symptoms, homeopathy dives deeper to address the root causes of disease. Through stimulation of the innate immune system, homeopathic care promotes the body’s natural ability to fight disease.
Contrary to popular belief, the Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has overseen and regulated homeopathic remedies since 1938. Due to the diluted nature of homeopathic remedies, they are generally recognized by medical authorities to be entirely safe for use in the general population.
The time for viable alternative treatment models is now. The unfortunate reality of modern life is that the toxic brew of air and water pollution, the overuse of and overreliance on antibiotics, chemical pesticides sprayed on our crops, and sedentary lifestyles have culminated in a global chronic disease epidemic that threatens our collective health.
As more people turn to alternative and complementary treatment modalities to overcome the limitations of conventional medicine to meet the challenges of the day, homeopathic care has enjoyed a surge of popularity throughout the Western world from Europe to the Americas to Australia and New Zealand.
“The highest ideal of cure is the speedy, gentle, and enduring restoration of health by the most trustworthy and least harmful way.”
–Samuel Hahnemann,
Founder of Homeopathy
